The U-trechters (2006) and the development of the Veilinghaven are an important example for the refurbishment of a historical harbour in the heart of the city being the scenery for a new housing area, the Dichterswijk. As a member of the Initiatiefgroep Historische Haven (I.H.H.U.) our self-initiated plan suggested a harbour for several inhabited historical vessels such as sailing boats and cargo ships. To strengthen the harbour atmosphere a few harbour related elements were selected, such as the former sand and gravel silos, an old crane and a harbour shed. The U-trechters were transformed into spatious offices.
