The Kolbenhof area in Hamburg Bahrenfeld is a former industrial ground in the heart of a vital living quarter. The objective of the competition in 2013 was to transform the area to a 50/50 housing and working ground witha new identity, that allows small scale productive industries to stay. We kept the large part of the industrial halls and defined a central communal square, that connects the ground to the neighbourhood and offers a meeting place as well for the people that are living in the southern part as well as for the people that work in the northern part. Additional green will be realized onto the roof area of the new buildings. Studio NL-D won the 3d price with their entry and the 1st public's choice.
